Day 23 - 58 miles from Rapid City to Wall, SD

Anne  and Michael rode the tandem the 58 miles to Wall, SD, home of the famous Wall Drug Store. There was not a cloud in the sky and it was in the 80's. The terrain was rollers, rollers rollers. They were just steep enough that although we built up good momentum going down, we had to stand on the tandem to pop over the next hill. That was ok for a while; however, these rollers went on for some 15-25 ups and downs. There were a good number of uphill grades we couldn't build up momentum going into them; so, it made for a challenging ride overall. Good that we had a side tailwind. Again, Anne rode really well.

Didn't take any pictures beyond this one at the World's Smallest Biker Bar (that's what you can't read!) at the only SAG stop of the day.

One of the riders did take this picture from behind us going down Interstate 90. As you can see, very wide open; but no buffalo nor prairie dogs roaming around in the wild like yesterday in the Wind Cave National Park outside of Hot Springs, SD.

So, most of our pictures today were taken after we arrived at Wall, SD.

Founders Ted & Dorothy Hustead!

Inside the Wall Drug Store, very touristy with all kinds of things to buy in the 76,000 sq foot facility. Over a million people stop at Wall Drug every year some 20,000 on a good summer day.

Anne found her childhood inspiration Annie Oakley for a picture.

The smallest chapel I've ever seen.

There is a T-Rex and of course some Jackalopes.

It was a good day.

Tomorrow, 117 miles to Pierre, SD. Will be praying for west winds. We enter CDT at Pierre.
